The Division of Cardiology at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute is seeking applications for a full-time academic cardiologist with a focus on the care of patients with Adult Congenital heart Disease (ACHD). The University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI) is a large tertiary centre providing cardiovascular care to Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec.
The successful applicant would join a group of 3 physicians caring for patients with Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD). Dedicated ACHD surgical and interventional services are provided on site. The program is also supported by institutional nursing and administrative support. Leadership opportunities would be possible depending on the candidate profile.
The successful candidate must be licensed to practice medicine in Ontario, hold the FRCPC in Cardiology or equivalent specialty certification, and appropriate training in ACHD. Practice profile will be negotiated based on expected academic and clinical deliverables.
The successful candidates is eligible to hold an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher at the University of Ottawa within the Department of Medicine; be a member of or be eligible for membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association; and, have experience teaching medical students and residents. Fluency in both official languages (English and French) would be considered a strong asset.
The income for this position is derived from a variety of sources including but not limited to clinical billings (fee-for-service), salary support (AFP/APP) as well as honorariums/stipends. Health and welfare benefits including extended health, dental and disability insurance as well as life insurance are offered to full-time physicians. The starting income for this position is estimated to be in the range of $250,000 - $550,000/year.
