The Division of Cardiology at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute seeks application for a full-time academic cardiologist with a clinical and research focus on Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) Imaging. Based on the candidate profile they may be eligible to be Co-Director of the CMR program.
The successful candidate must be licensed to practice medicine in Ontario; hold the FRCPC in Cardiology or equivalent specialty certification; have Level 3 training in CMR; and should, preferably, have a strong research interest along with formal research training and a significant publication record. Practice profile will be negotiated based on expected academic and clinical deliverables.
The University of Ottawa Heart Institute is a large tertiary centre providing cardiovascular care to Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. The dedicated cardiac MRI performs approximately 1500 cardiac studies a year. The program includes an integrated multimodality imaging fellowship program and research programs. As well, the Ottawa Heart Institute has a large imaging team with dedicated Echocardiography, Cardiac CT, Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac PET facilities and is considered an international leader in clinical care, training, and research.
The successful candidates is eligible to hold an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher at the University of Ottawa within the Department of Medicine; be a member of or be eligible for membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association; and, have experience teaching medical students and residents. Fluency in both official languages (English and French) would be considered a strong asset.
The income for this position is derived from a variety of sources including but not limited to clinical billings (fee-for-service), salary support (AFP/APP) as well as honorariums/stipends. Health and welfare benefits including extended health, dental and disability insurance as well as life insurance are offered to full-time physicians. The starting income for this position is estimated to be in the range of $250,000 - $550,000/year.
